HTC One may finally become available at Verizon on August 29, leaked roadmap says
The HTC One has been available for months, but not at Verizon. This particular carrier is still taking its sweet time launching HTC’s flagship offering. In the beginning this was somewhat understandable since Verizon had only released the Droid DNA a few months before the One became official. It was obvious even then that the carrier didn’t want to sell both of these models at the same time for whatever reason. So what was left to do was wait. And wait. And wait until the Droid DNA became old enough to be taken off the roster and replaced with the One. A strange strategy, this, especially considering that the Droid DNA and the One share no looks and their screens have different sizes.
Anyway, a lot of time has passed and we’ve heard about many tentative release dates for Verizon’s HTC One. Was it August 1? Nope. Is it going to be August 15? Maybe, but probably not, since if that were the case the carrier should’ve announced something by now.
Today we get a new rumored date for this big event: August 29. It allegedly comes from a leaked Verizon roadmap that was sent to Phone Arena. Obviously, things may still change, as that’s quite far off at this point, and it does look like Verizon’s doing all it can to delay this launch. For what possible reason is up for debate, since sales are bound to be lower and lower the more it’s delayed.

August 29 is shaping up to be a big launch day for Verizon, though, if the information in this roadmap is still accurate. Aside from the One, on the same day we should see LG Exalt, LG Enact, Motorola Droid Mini, Samsung Convoy 3, and the Kyocera Hydro Elite (this one though will be an online-only affair, it seems).
The LG Exalt will be a ‘high-end flip phone’, if something like that is even possible. The LG Enact will be the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II. Like that model, it will come with a side-sliding full physical QWERTY keyboard.
Before that, the August 23 launch date for the Moto X is present once again. As for the Motorola Droid Ultra and Droid MAXX, these should be in stores on August 20, as has been officially confirmed already.
A previous roadmap leak did mention both the Samsung Convoy 3 (then said to land on August 15), and the LG Exalt (with a July 25 release date tacked on).
One final tidbit – it’s said one more time that the HTC One will replace the Droid DNA in Verizon’s roster, and won’t be sold alongside it. So there you have it – Big Red’s big plan for the remainder of this month.
