Samsung Galaxy S III skips Android 4.2.2, will be updated to 4.3 – Deutsche Telekom confirms

A Deutsche Telekom rep has confirmed that Samsung’s Galaxy S III (model GT-i9300) would not be updated to Android 4.2.2, instead getting the latest 4.3 Jelly Bean build.

The confirmation came via the official Telekom forum in Germany. And while it concerns only the S III sold by Telekom, it’s probably safe to assume that Samsung will update the S III directly to Android 4.3 in all markets.

Samsung Galaxy S III Android 43 update

Not long ago, we heard that the Galaxy Note II would also skip the 4.2.2 update.

Both the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II – introduced as flagship devices last year – are currently running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. And it makes perfect sense for Samsung to start preparing Android 4.3 updates – now that this version is out.

Sadly, there is no word on when users should expect to get Android 4.3 on their S III and Note II. But it will probably happen starting the next few months. We’ll let you know.

It’s good to have a company that makes sure you have the latest and greatest. The phones themselves are first rate, so why should you have a second rate OS running on it! With some headset makers you would have to buy a new phone just to keep up. This is why I love Samsung they have tech that will be useable for ten years after it has come out, plus it will be compatible and fixable with software and firmware only!
