New Nexus 7, Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 and MeMO Pad FHD 10 all get official release dates for the UK
The Nexus 7 release date for the UK saga is finally over. In reporting on the new generation tablet’s launch window, so far we’ve had to rely on the much-changing listings from just one particular UK online retailer (since it was the only one to actually say anything about when the tablet would become available). So up until now we’ve had August 29, then August 28, and then August 24 as possibilities.
Today though official confirmation of the release date (and pricing) for the new Nexus 7 comes straight from Asus. The company that actually makes Google’s tablet held a press event in London, during which the following slide was shown.
As you can see, it turns out that August 28 is the winner. Furthermore, the launch will happen at exactly midnight on August 28, so presumably some brick-and-mortar shops will stay open until the morning so they can cater to all the willing buyers (though we’re not sure this was really warranted).
The tablet’s prices have been confirmed too. The 16 GB version will indeed go for £199, as previously thought, and if you need 32 GB of built-in storage you’ll have to fork out £239.
As for the release date – let’s all agree to be happy that it isn’t going to be September 13. We’re hoping that other European countries will get the new Nexus 7 soon after it hits the UK, but stay tuned and we’ll let you know more when we do.
Asus is also getting ready to finally launch the MeMO Pad HD 7 and the MeMO Pad FHD 10 in the UK. For the 7-incher, the big date will be September 1, and the tablet is set to cost just £129, keeping the tradition of dirt cheap 7-inch MeMO Pads from the Taiwanese company.
The bigger MeMO Pad FHD 10 will be in stores in the UK on September 6, and it will set you back £299.
