Samsung Galaxy Folder (Galaxy Golden / Hennessy) flip phone gets leaked renders, rumored specs
Samsung is currently working on at least one Android-powered flip phone. Yes, you read that right. Flip phone. That form factor certainly seems dead nowadays, but it looks like one Korean company is hoping to revive it somewhat, for whatever reason.
About a month ago we told you about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Folder, and today we have a bunch of leaked renders that could very well show this handset in all its glory. In the meantime though there were mumblings about a Galaxy Golden flip phone, which might turn out to be the same device – or not. Things are still a bit up in the air when it comes to the naming, but the smartphone you can see below definitely seems to be real.
Its model number is SCH-W789 and it is due to be launched by China Telecom in the near future. It’s been codenamed Hennessy. It has support for both CDMA and GSM networks, along with a pair of 3.3-inch 480×320 touchscreens (one on the inside, one on the outside), a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, a 5 MP camera with LED flash, microSD card support, and 1 GB of RAM. It should run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
We’re unlikely to ever see this device outside of Asia, so if you’re a flip phone lover don’t get your hopes up.
