Confirmed: Samsung Ativ S Neo lands at Sprint on August 16

Well, the rumors were correct. The Samsung Ativ S Neo, Sprint’s first Windows Phone 8 device made by the well known South Korean company, will become available on August 16. That’s this Friday, by the way.

We first told you that this was a possibility back in July, and now it turns out that it’s happening indeed. The Samsung Ativ S Neo will be priced at $149.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) with a two-year contract.

The launch comes almost two full months after the initial announcement from Sprint. The Ativ S Neo is basically a slightly tweaked version of the Samsung Ativ S for the international market.

It comes with a 4.8-inch 720p HD touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 1.9 MP front camera, a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, microSD card support, all the usual connectivity options (including LTE of course), and a 2,000 mAh battery.

Sprint is already selling another Windows Phone 8 device, the HTC 8XT, which was unveiled alongside the Ativ S Neo in June. Why it took the Samsung handset this long to arrive into stock is anyone’s guess really. But the wait is almost over now.
