Nokia Lumia 625 officially launches in the UK on August 28, pricing announced

The just-leaked Lumia 825 may come and change that in a few weeks (or months), but right now the Lumia 625 is Nokia’s biggest ever Windows Phone. This handset was announced in July, and it’s already available in France. That will be the case in the UK too, and very soon.

Today, Nokia has put out a press release announcing that the Lumia 625 will be in stores in the UK on August 28. That’s two days later than one leak anticipated this to happen, so not bad at all. In case you’re wondering, August 28 is in exactly two weeks from today.

The Nokia Lumia 625 will be available at O2, Vodafone, EE, Carphone Warehouse, and Phones 4U on that date. It will be offered for free with two-year contracts that cost at least £21 per month. On Pay as you go, you’ll be able to buy one for just £179. For a limited time after release, if you buy a white or black Lumia 625, you’ll be able to claim a free colored shell in orange, yellow, or green. This is undoubtedly done in order to remind you that this device comes with an array of swappable colored shells.

As you may have gathered from its pricing, the Nokia Lumia 625 isn’t a high-end offering. It’s a midranger that has that screen size (alongside the colored shells) as a main selling point.

Do the numbers mean anything? 625,521,920,810,820,620? I wish Nokia would make one hero phone for the same for every carrier then low range like the 521 and midrange devices.
