Sony wants to crash Samsung’s Unpacked party on September 4, schedules event hours before
Sony’s being naughty towards Samsung, the top dog in the Android world right now. The Korean company announced an event for September 4, pre-IFA in Berlin, where it’s widely expected to finally unveil the Galaxy Note III phablet flagship.
Samsung’s event starts at 7 pm local time, and now Sony has announced its very own event in the same city and on the same day. And it starts less than three hours before Samsung’s (at 4:15 pm local time). Sony’s event is scheduled to end exactly two hours before Samsung’s starts.
Clearly, this means Sony wants a piece of that spotlight that Samsung will benefit from at the beginning of next month. It’s been expected that the Japanese company would have a gathering around the time of IFA, but probably no one was expecting this timing for it.
So it’s going to be a pretty news-filled Wednesday on September 4, exactly three weeks from now. Sony may finally unveil the Xperia i1 Honami, the device that’s long been rumored to be the company’s next flagship offering, taking over from the Xperia Z. Exciting times ahead!
