Nokia tablet leaks in red with Verizon logo, said to be announced on September 26
Just yesterday the ‘Nokia tablet‘ rumor resurfaced, and today we already have the first leaked image purportedly showing it. Sure, it’s just the back at this point, but it’s a start. And just like everyone was anticipating, Nokia isn’t going to give up on its love of all things colorful once it makes its first step into the tablet space.
So far we’ve heard that AT&T is going to be a launch partner for Nokia’s first tablet, but as you can see this leaked unit has a big ‘ol Verizon logo slapped onto it. Which either means that the report from yesterday was wrong (at least on this one count), or that Nokia’s going to launch its tablet on at least two US carriers. That would really be something, seeing as how it’s never done that with its smartphones.
Coming to further clarify the rumored September unveiling is a report that puts it at September 26 specifically. The Nokia tablet is apparently codenamed Vanquish, and it’s going to sport Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and feature LTE support. It will run Windows 8.1 RT and in the past we’ve heard that it would come with a 10-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen and 32 GB of internal storage too.
The tablet will have a detachable keyboard/dock combo, a la the Microsoft Surface. Will this be a hit for Nokia? That’s not at all a given, since all previous Windows RT devices have pretty much failed in the market.
