HTC One and Droid DNA to get Android 4.3 in September. One X Android 4.2 update rolling out now
Here’s some news regarding software updates for some current and past HTC flagships. First off, you should know that the update to Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5 for the One X from last year is now in the process of rolling out in Europe, according to reports from both XDA-Developers and @llabtoofer. This comes after the HTC One got its serving of the second iteration of Jelly Bean, followed by the One X+. And now it’s the One X, sans plus, getting the treat.
The update brings with it BlinkFeed, HTC’s new home screen, a new lock screen, the ability for the battery percentage to be shown at all times, a sleep mode, and the quick settings panel, among other things.
If you own a One X and are in Europe, your phone should notify you about the update soon, if it hasn’t done so already. Like all over-the-air rollouts, this one too should be staged, so don’t panic of you don’t see the update yet – it will probably arrive in the next few days or weeks.
If you own an HTC One you already have Android 4.2.2 to take advantage of, but what about version 4.3? This was announced by Google last month, and it looks like HTC is going to be a lot faster in bringing you this version of the OS than it was with previous updates.
According to HTC President Jason Mackenzie, the company will deliver updates to Android 4.3 for all One SKUs sold in the US and Canada before the end of September. Also in the same time frame, the HTC Droid DNA for Verizon will see the 4.3 update too.
If this won’t get delayed (as software updates usually are), then it’s certainly good news since in the past HTC wasn’t always the fastest to issue updates to a new Android version for its devices.
