iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C now rumored to be out on September 20

Once again we’re dealing with the question of when Apple will actually release its two new iPhones that it’s expected to unveil at an event on September 10.

The word one week ago was that October 25 was going to be the date. But that seemed incredibly un-Apple-like, letting a month and a half pass in between announcement and availability. We were pretty reluctant to believe this rumor back then, but wrote about it anyway because it came from a source that was supposedly reliable on Apple-related stuff in the past.

Now though the same source has changed its mind, and claims that Apple will in fact release the two new iPhones on September 20. That’s precisely ten days after the event, and it’s exactly in line with Apple’s usual way of doing these things.

The problem, though, is that this source has now lost its credibility, after admitting to having spread false information the last time around. So you’ve been warned. If you want to believe this new report, go ahead and do so. Sure, it’s easy to take that road exactly because, unlike the last rumor, this describes something Apple really would do.

But – this could all be wishful thinking, once again. So use salt, and all that.

The October 25 date could apparently still be valid for the release of the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, and the excuse given for the wrong information coming out last week was that people got the iPhone release date mixed up with that for the new tablets.

iOS 7 is said to come out on September 16, but there’s a “probably” attached to the date, so you shouldn’t take it too seriously.
