LG G Pad confirmed by exec. Flexible displays coming next year, smart watch and bigger phablet too
Many times so far this year, LG has been rumored to be working on a new Android tablet. The Korean company has been absent from this space for a couple of years, but looks like it’s ready to get back in the game. The tablet will almost certainly be called LG G Pad, and its existence (and availability before the end of the year) has now been confirmed by one of the company’s execs.
Dimitar Valev (pictured below) is LG’s head of mobile communications for Bulgaria, and during an interview with a local paper he acknowledged the new tablet’s existence (not the name though).
But that wasn’t all Mr. Valev had to say. LG apparently could make another Windows Phone, to be released next year, but whether that will happen depends on how Microsoft will take its newest mobile OS forward. In 2013 LG will release a phone running Firefox OS, something we’ve seen before. This might get pushed to early 2014, though.
If you think that the LG Optimus G Pro is a big handset, then you should prepare for something even bigger. That’s right, LG will release an even more tablet-y phablet in 2014.
LG will also produce a new smart watch next year, and it will be out in the US first. This will come alongside devices with flexible displays, which will be offered in some markets.
So despite the fact that LG’s display manufacturing arm may start shipping such screens in November, these won’t make it into actual devices this year. Once again, a year passes and flexible displays are ‘just around the corner’. Perpetually so.
