Nokia launches HERE Auto, apps for Android and Windows Phone included
Nokia has expanded its software portfolio by launching HERE Auto, which, alongside its companion products is presented as “the only end-to-end driving solution on the market today.”
Leveraging on Nokia’s mapping and location know-how (famous since the days of Ovi Maps), HERE Auto is an in-dash navigation system that provides voice guided turn-by-turn navigation in 95 countries, places search, traffic estimation based on historic data, 3D landmarks, speed limit and speed camera warnings, fuel prices (in the US, Canada and Europe) and so on. Moreover, with HERE Auto Cloud, Nokia is offering “always-on access to several dynamic services such as real-time traffic updates, helping drivers avoid congested areas, road closures or blockages that occur en route.”
In addition to HERE Auto and HERE Auto Cloud, Nokia is (obviously?) also releasing HERE Auto Companion apps for Windows Phone and Android. These have extra features, including the ability to help drivers remotely find their car (thanks to LiveSight augmented reality technology), or checking car stats (including tire pressure and fuel levels).
Nokia will demonstrate its full suite of HERE Connected Driving offerings at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Germany (starting September 10).
