Android 4.3 updates for Samsung Galaxy S 4 and S III coming in October

Now that Samsung announced two new devices that run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box – Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition – the company also had the time to talk about software updates for slightly older products.

According to Sam Mobile, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S III would be updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean starting October. This lines up well with what was previously reported about the S III – skipping Android 4.2.2, and going straight to 4.3.

The Note II will probably get the 4.3 update pretty soon as well, although Samsung didn’t confirm this yet.

The Galaxy S III, S4 and Note II will almost surely also get the newer Android 4.4 KitKat. However, since it  isn’t clear when Google will launch the new version of the OS, we have no idea when Samsung is going to be ready for KitKat. In any case, Android 4.4 should be out before the end of the year. We’ll let you know more after that.

I’ll believe it when I see it. The US carriers have a tendency to slow things like this down for months.
