Nokia intros 108 and 108 Dual SIM – new cheap camera phones
Nokia has officially announced two new cheap candybar phones that will probably sell like hot cakes in emerging markets: Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM.
Aimed at people who are “purchasing their first-ever camera phone”, the new handsets don’t have 3G connectivity, and will cost only $29.
As you’d expect at this price, the camera on the 108 and 108 Dual SIM is a VGA one. Other features include: 1.8 inch display, Bluetooth, Nokia’s Slam sharing service, FM radio, MP3 player, MicroSD card support (up o 32GB), and a long-lasting battery (up to 31 days of stand-by time on the 108, and up to 25 days of stand-by time on the 108 Dual SIM).
Both new handsets will be available starting the fourth quarter of the year, in various color versions including red, black, white, cyan and yellow.
“We continue to connect millions of people, including those for whom mobile phone ownership was previously out of reach. There remains a huge segment of the global population that has yet to own a camera phone. For the next billion people and beyond, we aim to bring new mobile experiences to ever-lower price points, and the Nokia 108 and Nokia 108 Dual SIM are great examples of this commitment,” declared Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia.
