Nokia starts teasing October 22 event, Lumia 1520 launch expected
Not once, but twice over the past couple of days we’ve heard that the Nokia Lumia 1520 would only get unveiled after October 20, perhaps even on October 22. And now that’s pretty much become official, since the Finnish company soon to be owned by Microsoft has posted a teaser on its Twitter account.
In it, an event on October 22 is being announced, with “blazing”, and “innovation reinvented” as keywords (or rather, buzzwords) attached via (suggested) hashtags. How exactly Nokia is going to ‘reinvent’ innovation by releasing the umpteenth phablet we’ve seen this year remains to be seen, of course.
And with more than a month to go, there’s plenty of time for us to see the Lumia 1520 again and again as the star of upcoming leaks and such, and learn everything there is to know about it even before it’s official.
The rather late October 22 announcement date may or may not have something to do with Microsoft buying Nokia, and that deal delaying such things as new device launches – at least that was the theory in rumorland a few hours ago. We’ll never know for sure.
