Nokia Lumia 520 to get a successor in the Lumia 525 Glee?
Announced by Nokia in February and launched around the world starting April, the Lumia 520 / 521 has become the best-selling Windows Phone handset ever – thanks to its unbeatable value for money (it can be bought for around $100 / €100).
A successor to the Lumia 520 might be just around the corner. According to trusty EVleaks, a Lumia 525 (codenamed Glee) already exists, and its name clearly suggests it’s another affordable WP8 device. Tom Warren (of TheVerge and WinRumors) seems to confirm that the Glee / Lumia 525 is a low-end handset – one “focused on music.” Even more, he says that the 525 will “be more important for Windows Phone” than the upcoming Lumia 1520 phablet. And he’s probably right. Assuming that the 525 will be more successful than the Lumia 520, there will be millions of it sold globally.
At the moment, there are no details on the features of the Lumia 525. I’m expecting a WVGA screen, Windows Phone 8 GRD 3, a dual-core processor, not more than 1GB of RAM, and a decent camera on the back.
Nokia is hosting a major event next month, on October 22, where the Lumia 525 could be announced. The company will almost certainly unveil the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 2520 (a Windows RT tablet) then. New Asha handsets – 500, 502, 503 – may also be introduced.
