Verizon Nokia Lumia 929 said to be launching on November 6 in black and white
On October 22, Nokia is holding an event in Abu Dhabi where it’s expected to unveil half a dozen new devices. Among those we should see the Lumia 929, a Verizon exclusive that could be that particular carrier’s interpretation of the 6-inch Lumia 1520 phablet.
We’ve already seen the Lumia 929 leak in press render form, and today we get some details about its launch. Apparently November 6 is when we’ll see it in Verizon stores across the US. Interestingly, it will only be out in black and white. That’s a bit of a departure for Nokia, a company that’s shown us it’s in love with colorful designs over the past few years, but perhaps this change came courtesy of Verizon.

The Lumia 929 is probably going to be smaller than the 1520 it will share guts with. Unlike the 6-inch phablet, the Lumia 929 should be in the 5-inch range, yet is expected to keep the 1080p Full HD touchscreen as well as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor of its bigger brother. So it’s pretty obvious that Verizon thought that a 6-inch handset was a bit too extreme for its customers.
The off-contract price for the Nokia Lumia 929 will be $500, which is $200 less than what’s rumored to happen for the Lumia 1520 on AT&T. This can either mean that AT&T wants to seriously discourage off-contract purchases of its upcoming phablet, or maybe the 929 will be a bit lower-end (and smaller) than that.
