HTC One Max will launch next week. Will it be enough to stop decline during this Holiday Season?
The long rumored HTC One Max is almost here. According to Wall Street Journal, HTC will launch its flagship phablet device on October 15th.
Engadget also received invitations to HTC press events on October 16th in Hong Kong and October 18th in Taiwan. Which points to a fast worldwide roll-out of One Max. Hopefully there won’t be months to wait after announcement before HTC’s newest flagship hits the store shelves.
After Apple popularized the finger scanner technology with iPhone 5S, it seems that HTC decided to make it a key feature of One Max too. There were multiple versions of the phablet leaked over last months, some of them showing the handset with fingerprint sensor, some – without. Now WSJ report indicates that all, or at least most One Max models will come with this option and a number of applications optimized for it.
HTC badly needs at least a moderate hit smartphone for this holiday season. The sales of its spring flagship– One – petered out after a short initial surge, and neither a huge new marketing campaign, nor any of the new product launches were able to turn things around yet.
With now traditional failure to meet its own sales forecast and first quarterly loss in company history, HTC faces even more challenging Holiday Season. HTC One Max is Taiwanese OEM’s answer to iPhone 5S, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2.
Will it be good enough to compete against such formidable competition? Or is it too little, too late, again?
