LG Nexus 5 may have $399 32GB version with 3000 mAh battery
Put this into more of the wishful thinking, than in “this is actually happening” category for now. But, who knows, maybe it will happen.
You know that main gripe I had with the upcoming LG Nexus 5 device? Ridiculously small 2300 mAh battery in a 5” smartphone?
Why on earth will Google do such a stupid thing?
Well, we may have an answer now: price.
Since they launched the first Nexus 7 tablet, Google has been obsessed about offering their flagships devices for the lowest price possible. For its Nexus 4 smartphone they were able to get to the incredible $299 level last year. And they wanted to repeat the feat this year too. But what with the cost of bigger 5” display, better 8 megapixel camera with OIS, and Qualcomm 800 CPU – it’s not that easy to get there. Some compromises had to be made, and Google decided that smaller, cheaper battery is the way to go.
However, things might not be as bad as they appear.
If the device price is really important to you, so yes, the battery power on your $299 16GB
Galaxy Nexus 5 will probably suck.
But, if you are ready to spend $100 more, PhoneArena just got tipped that a more expensive $399 32GB Nexus will come with bigger capacity, 3000 mAh battery. Which should easily last you through a day of serious use, and more.
This is just an unconfirmed rumor, that sounds a bit too good to be true, for now. But it’s such a compelling proposition that I really really want it to happen.
