Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 now shipping in the US
Amazon has announced that its latest high-end tablet, the Kindle Fire HDX 7, is shipping in the US starting today. However, if you’re visiting Amazon.com you’ll see that only the 64GB version of the Kindle Fire HDX 7 Wi-Fi is in stock at the moment (costing $309). The 16GB and 32GB versions are expected to be released on October 24 ($229 and $269, respectively).
There are also LTE-capable editions for Verizon and AT&T, with pricing starting at $329 (16GB models). You can pre-order any of them, but they won’t be out before November 14.
Sporting a 7 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, the Kindle Fire HDX 7 runs Fire OS 3.0, which is based on Android Jelly Bean. Other features include a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Dolby Digital Plus sound, 2GB of RAM, and a battery that can provide up to 11 hours of mixed use. Of course, there are also various Amazon-specific features, including Amazon Prime, access to Kindle Store, and a Mayday button that provides live on-device tech support.
The larger Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 will be released on November 7. Prices start at $379.00 (16GB, Wi-Fi model).
Both the Kindle Fire HDX 7 and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 can be also pre-ordered in Canada and the UK. They will ship there in the coming weeks.
