6 inch Sony Xperia Tianchi with 8-core MediaTek CPU coming soon?
Chinese media has recently indicated that Sony may release a low-cost 6 inch phablet. Reportedly codenamed Xperia Tianchi, the device seemingly uses an 8-core MediaTek MT6592 processor.
There aren’t any other details about the Xperia Tianchi at the moment. However, its screen will probably have an HD (1280 x 720) pixel resolution. And we shouldn’t expect it to be thinner than the 6.5mm Xperia Z Ultra (released earlier this year as Sony’s first phablet).
The Xperia Tianchi might be officially introduced during an event that will take place on November 12.
It won’t be the first time when Sony chooses a MediaTek processor for one of its Android devices. The company’s Xperia C (an affordable 5 inch smartphone launched in China recently) also relies on a MediaTek CPU.
Another new handset that should be unveiled on November 12 is the Sony Xperia Z1S (seen above). This could be a China-specific version of the Xperia Z1 f (aka Xperia Z1 Mini), sporting a 4.3 inch HD display.
