Nexus 5 now available at T-Mobile, BlackBerry Z30 at Verizon
T-Mobile has started selling the LG-made Google Nexus 5 today. This comes six days earlier than what a leak from the beginning of the month had us expecting. That’s certainly good news if you’re desperate to get your hands on a Nexus 5, especially now that the Google Play Store lists shipping times in weeks rather than days.
So you might get the newest Nexus from T-Mobile for the sole purpose of getting it fast. You do have to pay a premium, in this case. The Nexus 5 is $100 more expensive when paid outright at the magenta carrier than the Play Store, starting at $449.99.
The other possible reason for getting a Nexus 5 from TMo and not from Google would be not paying for it in full. T-Mobile offers you the possibility of putting down just $41.99, and then paying $17 per month for two years to make up the difference. This requires you to use TMo’s services, though you can leave at any time (no minimum contract period is enforced), but you should know that when you do leave the balance for the phone becomes due.
The Z30 is BlackBerry’s latest flagship offering, and it can be yours for $199.99 with a new two-year contract from Verizon. The full price is $549.99, in case you want to get the phone sans long term agreement.
