Dual SIM Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 officially announced

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Grand 2 – which, of course, is the SM-G7105 / SM-G7106 seen last week.

The new smartphone is a bit larger than the original Galaxy Grand (introduced almost a year ago), as it sports a 5.25 inch HD display. It borrows from the design of the Galaxy Note 3, coming with a faux leather back.

The Grand 2 features dual SIM capabilities, HSPA+ connectivity, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor of unknown provenience (it could be a Snapdragon 200), 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.9MP front-facing camera, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 2,600 mAh battery (providing up to 17 hours of calls). Of course, a full suite of Samsung-specific software is included (S Translator, S Travel, S Health, ChatON, Samsung Hub, Samsung Link and so on).

The handset will run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at launch. There’s no word if it will be updated to 4.4 KitKat, but it probably will be at some point.

White, black and pink are the color versions of the Grand 2 (the same which are available for the Galaxy Note 3). Samsung didn’t say when, and neither for how much the new smartphone will be released. China is probably one of the first markets to get it anyway.
