Moto G arrives at Verizon on January 9 priced at $99.99 sans contract
If you love how affordable the Moto G is, get ready for it to become even cheaper. Hard to believe, but this apparently is going to happen in just a few days.
Verizon will start selling the handset on January 9, without any contract commitments or the likes – it will be aimed at customers using prepaid packages from the carrier. The Moto G will be priced at $99.99.
No mistake there. Now read that again. $99.99 contract-free for a device that has incredibly decent specs and is sure to get software updates pretty quick (the update to Android 4.4 KitKat is already rolling out in the US).
The price comes by way of a leaked image showing the Moto G packaging in a store, ready for customers. As you can see, there’s no ordinary box here – but for the price, we can forgive the all-plastic wrapping. A similar image (without the price) is also making the rounds on the Internet coming from a Best Buy employee, so this is almost certainly legit.
Furthermore, according to a leaked internal memo from Best Buy (seen below), that particular retailer will start selling the Moto G for Verizon on January 9.
So there you have it. A very cheap smartphone getting even cheaper, no strings attached (well, except for the fact that you’ll probably only be able to use it with a Verizon prepaid plan).
