Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE will receive Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in mid-February
If your device of choice is Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G LTE, then a software update is in your future. Not your immediate future, though, unfortunately, for the rollout has had to be delayed.
According to a Twitter reply from Jason Mackenzie, the President of HTC America, the Evo 4G LTE will start getting the last Jelly Bean-named software around mid-February. Prior to that, Sprint will be testing the new bits starting in mid-January.
This timeline gives us a rare glimpse into the update process for an Android smartphone. Keep in mind that the update’s release may be delayed even further if Sprint finds some showstopper bugs during its testing. Then it will send the update back to HTC for mending, after which you can expect another month of testing and so on.
And, of course, 4.3 isn’t even the latest version of Android anymore. If you’re wondering whether the HTC Evo 4G LTE will ever get Android 4.4 KitKat, well… don’t bet on it. Sprint and HTC would much rather have you buying a brand new device running KitKat – or at least one that’s newer than the Evo 4G LTE. The One, for example, will get KitKat.
