Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite to be priced at $129
Samsung is planning on making it big in the tablet space this year. For that, though, it needs products on the market. Lots of them. And it will deliver. Later today, at CES in Las Vegas, Samsung is expected to take the wraps off of many new tablets. Four of them have leaked earlier, they’re all part of the company’s new Pro line of top-spec tablets. Samsung also maintains a ‘mainstream’ line of now-midrange tablets, and soon we’ll see the first ever member of the Lite series – focused on low prices alone.
This is going to be the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (not to be confused with the Galaxy Tab 3 pictured below), and it too may get unveiled today. We’ve heard about it a few times already, courtesy of various leaks. Now though we got its price for the US: $129. In Europe, that should translate into €99 according to past rumors.
So what exactly do you get for such a low price? A 7-inch 1,024×600 touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean running the show. Other specs are still a mystery, but obviously you shouldn’t expect much, given the pricing.
The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite should become available before the end of this week if a mumbling from last month is to be believed. With it, Samsung clearly hopes to compete against the many no-name tablets that are being offered at around the $100 price point. Brand recognition alone could make people shell out a little bit more for this tablet, the thinking goes. Let’s see if that actually happens.
