Sony Xperia Z1S (Xperia Z1 Mini) pictured on its way to T-Mobile, specs leaked too

Samsung has the Galaxy S4 Mini, HTC has the One Mini. The “Mini” fad is catching on quickly. So what about Sony? Well, once again, the Japanese company seems to be the last to get in on something. At least internationally, that is. For in Japan the Xperia Z1 f was launched in October. Despite the strange name, it’s nothing more than a “Mini” version of the Xperia Z1, Sony’s current flagship smartphone.

And since October we’ve been hearing that it will get an international launch soon. On countless occasions, it’s been leaked as the Xperia Z1S. And despite the fact that at one point that name seemed to be reserved for the Z1’s successor, the “Mini” Z1 looks like it will be called Z1S after all.

T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z1S leak

From the usually reliable @evleaks comes the purported full spec list for the Xperia Z1S. It is said to have a 4.3-inch 720p touchscreen, a 20.7 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974), 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and a 2,300 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Aside from the screen size and resolution, and the battery capacity, the Xperia Z1S is identical in specs to the Z1 – hence this will be Sony’s “Mini”.

Furthermore, it will be sold in the US at T-Mobile. The photo you can see above depicting the Xperia Z1S clearly sees it feature a TMo logo, and the magenta carrier has been Sony’s best friend in the US for the past couple of years – carrying basically all of its most important smartphones. So this makes sense.

Now all that’s left to happen is for Sony to finally make the Xperia Z1S official. We’re waiting.
