AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Active now receiving Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update
AT&T’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is now in the process of getting updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The update should come over-the-air, and you’ll only be able to download it via Wi-Fi since it weighs in at a hefty 721 MB.
Your phone may have already notified you that the update is out, but if it hasn’t then you can force it to manually check by going to Settings > More > About device > Software update and hitting Check for updates.
Once you’ve installed the new software, you’ll be running build number JSS15J.I537UCUBML2. Aside from the Android system upgrade, this update also comes with compatibility for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, drag and drop support for disabling or uninstalling applications, and a few more preloaded apps, such as Kindle, Lookout, City ID, Password Keeper, Games, and AT&T Mobile Protection.
There’s no word on whether the Galaxy S4 Active will ever be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, which is currently the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. There’s obviously no technical reason for it not to be, but that doesn’t mean you necessarily should be expecting a taste of KitKat anytime soon. We’ll keep you posted though.
