Gold LG G2 gets official alongside red version
The gold LG G2 that got leaked a couple of days ago is now official, or at least it is so in Singapore. Furthermore, it’s joined by a red version of the same device. It’s unclear whether the new color variations will ever make it to other territories, although Taiwan seems to be set to get them, since that’s where the gold LG G2 leak originated.
The two new phones are both identical to the black LG G2 that’s been on sale for many months now, save for the new hues. They also come with a new back cover style, which is made of a textured plastic that should be much less prone to becoming a fingerprint-filled mess after a few minutes. That’s great news. If only LG thought of this prior to the G2’s unveiling…
Oh, and the new colors also look stylish. Judge for yourself:
The gold and red LG G2 will be sold for 898 SGD by the Starhub, SingTel, and M1 carriers in Singapore. They will be out on January 18, which is this Saturday. That sum, by the way, currently translates into $705 or €517, so it’s in line with the original G2’s pricing.
The two new versions have apparently been created to celebrate the coming Lunar New Year (also known as the Chinese New Year). So LG clearly expects them to sell well in Asia.
