Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Edition and Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition announced with faux leather backs
The Galaxy Note 3 Neo isn’t the only new Samsung device that got official today. Enter the Galaxy S4 Black Edition and the Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition. These two were unveiled in Russia, and should go on sale in February.
The Galaxy S4 Black Edition is basically just a GT-i9505 Galaxy S4 (the LTE-capable model) that is actually black and features a faux leather back cover just like the one pioneered in the Korean company’s portfolio by the Galaxy Note 3 (and since used on some tablets too).
As such, the specs are the same as you’d expect from a ‘normal’ Galaxy S4. The handset comes with a 5-inch 1080p Full HD AMOLED touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP front camera, a 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 2,600 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
The Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition is similarly just a ‘vanilla’ S4 Mini wrapped in black – and once again with the faux leather finish on the back. It comes with a 4.3-inch 540×960 AMOLED touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 1.9 MP front camera, a dual-core 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 1,900 mAh battery. It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean too.
In Russia, the Galaxy S4 Black Edition will be sold for 22,990 rubles, which currently amounts to approximately $651 or €482. The S4 Mini Black Edition will retail for 15,990 rubles, which is around $452 or €334.
