LG Optimus G Pro will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in June
The update to Android 4.4 KitKat for the LG Optimus G Pro is still an incredibly long way out. The Optimus G Pro was LG’s first phablet, and it was announced around one year ago. We’re getting ready to welcome its successor, the G Pro 2, into the world, and that should run KitKat from day one.
However, its predecessor will have to wait until “the end of Q2″ in order to be updated to that same version of Google’s mobile operating system. Since the second quarter of the year ends on June 30, we’re assuming this means that the Optimus G Pro will see the update roll out sometime during the month of June.
The information comes from LG’s Indian arm, via a reader who tipped off the folks at GSM Arena. He apparently got chatting with a company rep, and the answer he received is in the image above.
That’s a long time to wait, considering that KitKat was unveiled on the last day of October last year. But this is nothing new for LG, known for a pretty appalling record in the Android world when it comes to providing software updates. It’s a shame, but unlike most LG handsets, at least the Optimus G Pro will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat.
