iPad 2 now just $299 at Walmart, even less with trade-in offer

It may seem odd at first, but Apple is still selling the iPad 2, because it’s billing it as its very own entry-level 10-inch tablet. The iPad 2 has been around for a very long time, though, which kind of makes Apple’s asking price of $399 seem like a bit too much for most people. After all, the brand new latest model iPad Air is just $100 more.

To sweeten the deal somewhat, Walmart is running a promo for the next 30 days, whereby you can get an iPad 2 for $100 off its normal price. Hence, you’ll only need to pay $299 if you need to buy this classic Apple tablet. That makes it a lot more enticing, though as they say – wait, there’s more!

Walmart is also in the process of offering you up to $300 in credit if you trade-in an old device (which has to be working, mind you). According to Phone Arena, the retailer guarantees a trade-in value of at least $100 for any iPad you bring into the store – so you could further cut the iPad 2′s price all the way down to a pretty unbelievable (for an Apple product) $199.

However, the only iPad that’s older than the iPad 2 at this point is the original, so unless you have that one trading in another iPad for an iPad 2 doesn’t make much sense (though we assume you may perhaps want to get rid of an iPad Mini too – say because you think its screen is too small or something like that).

You could also get an iPad Air for just $399 by trading in an older iPad, which is a pretty decent deal as well. The trade-in offer doesn’t only apply to iPads, though. You can get up to $300 if you part with an old smartphone or tablet, but if you go for a new smartphone you’ll need to sign a two-year contract with either AT&T or Verizon in order to take advantage of the deal.

Helpfully, over here you can find out in advance how much credit you’ll receive for the old device you want to bring in to Walmart – so you know exactly what to expect. And if you’re interested in purchasing a cheap iPad 2 from the retailer, this is where you need to go.

Aren’t most Android tablets selling for around $100 by now. It doesn’t look as though Apple is going to get many sales if consumers are all buying new Android tablets for $200 less than Apple is asking.
