LG G Pro 2 may be unveiled on February 13
Back in January, LG decided to officially confirm the G Pro 2‘s name and the fact that it would be unveiled in February. Although the company hasn’t directly said anything else about its next phablet, over the past few days there have been quite a few revelations about it that we can only assume are controlled leaks.
All that was left for us to find out was when exactly the Korean company would in fact take the wraps off of its newest creation. It turns out that it may be sooner than we thought. It definitely looks like LG plans to ignore MWC and unveil the G Pro 2 in its own back yard. Korean media have started receiving the invite you can see below, which talks about an event on February 13 (that’s next Thursday, by the way).
So this could be it. However, there’s no concrete mention of the G Pro 2 in the invite – nor something as obvious as Samsung’s big “5” plastered on top of its invite for the Galaxy S5’s introduction. The ‘knock on’ bit is however referencing the screen unlock feature that LG debuted in the G2. One of the main reasons to have it was the fact that the G2 came with all its buttons on the back.
According to a certain leak from not long ago, the G Pro 2 should have its buttons on the back too, replicating its smaller sibling’s design somewhat – in which case such a ‘knock on’ unlock feature would definitely make sense. So yes, this may very well be a rather subtle hint.
Some Korean media outlets certainly seem to think that, so unless we hear otherwise in the meantime we’re going to treat this as if it’s going to be the G Pro 2’s unveiling event.
