Verizon HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update now rolling out
Verizon’s HTC One is now in the process of being updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, which is currently the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. It follows in the footsteps of the unlocked and Google Play Edition HTC One, and more recently the model sold in Europe as well as Sprint’s variation.
The update is currently rolling out over-the-air. As such, you should expect your handset to notify you when it’s ready to download and install. If that hasn’t happened yet and you’re impatient you can always manually check for the update by going to Settings > About phone. However, do keep in mind that this is bound to be a staggered rollout, so it might not show up as available for your particular phone just yet.
The new software is a 617 MB download, so you should probably do it via Wi-Fi. It brings with it Android 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 5.5. After applying the update you’ll be on software version 3.11.605.1.
If you’re interested in the full list of changes that come with this update, you should consult this PDF document that resides on Verizon’s website and explains everything in detail.
