Upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, 8.0, and 10.1 tablets have their specs leaked

Over the years, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab branded tablets have become the company’s low end offerings in the space. That was made abundantly clear by the introduction of the Galaxy Tab Pro and Galaxy Note Pro line last month at CES – those are the real flagships in Samsung’s tablet portfolio.

The non-Pro Galaxy Tabs are the price champions, however. And the Tab 3 line is getting a bit old nowadays, so a refresh is probably due. That’s exactly what Samsung seems to think, as it’s looking like it will soon retire all the Tab 3 tablets (except the recently unveiled Galaxy Tab 3 Lite), and will replace them with the Galaxy Tab 4 line.

There will be three members in this lineup, and all have had their specs leaked today. The Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 will come with a 7-inch 1,280×800 touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, a 3 MP rear camera, a 1.3 MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a 4,450 mAh battery. It will run Android 4.4 KitKat from day one. It will have a Wi-Fi-only version, one that comes with HSPA 3G connectivity, and another featuring 100 Mbps LTE.

Next up we have the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. This will have an 8-inch 1,280×800 touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, a 3 MP rear camera, a 1.3 MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a huge (for the size) 6,800 mAh battery. It will run Android 4.4 KitKat. In this case too there will be three versions – Wi-Fi-only, 3G, and LTE. The LTE model will come with 1.5 GB of RAM.

Finally, the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. It will sport a 10.1-inch 1,280×800 touchscreen, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, an 8 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 6,800 mAh battery. It will run Android 4.4 KitKat. And yes, you guessed it – three models here too, Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G LTE.

The source of these leaks hasn’t proven itself reliable yet, so keep in mind that all of this could just be someone’s imagination at work. That said, it’s plausible that Samsung will soon release a Galaxy Tab 4 line, and the specs seem in line with the low-end aspect of past Galaxy Tab series, so maybe this is real after all. We’ll have to wait and see though.
