Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon finally gets official, out on February 20 for $199.99
After an amazingly large number of leaks, the Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon has finally been officially announced today. The smartphone is a high-end offering that is meant to compete with the flagships of the competition, and its specs are incredibly similar to those of the Lumia 1520 phablet that was unveiled back in October. However, the Lumia Icon packs all of that oomph into a much more pocketable package.
The Nokia Lumia Icon has a 5-inch 1080p Full HD ClearBlack touchscreen that can be used with gloves, a 20 MP PureView rear camera, a 1.2 MP wide-angle front camera, a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Qi wireless charging, and a 2,420 mAh battery. Its dimensions are 137x71x9.8 mm, and it weighs 167 grams. It runs the latest version of Windows Phone 8.
The Lumia Icon will be out in Verizon stores and online on February 20, just like the most recent leak about it suggested. It will cost $199.99 with a new two-year contract. Pre-orders start today, but it looks like they are only available in Microsoft Stores. If you do pre-order a Lumia Icon there before February 16 (that’s this Sunday, by the way), you’ll get a free Nokia wireless charger.
