Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablets and Galaxy Gear 2 will be unveiled at MWC alongside the Galaxy S5
Samsung will announce the Galaxy S5 on February 24, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. That much is clear. But will Samsung only unveil its next superphone on that occasion, or is it planning to introduce some other new devices as well?
According to a new report from the company’s native South Korea, it’s going to be the latter. We’ve heard a few times thus far that Samsung would also shine light on the Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch at the same event, but it looks like that won’t be all either. In fact, the company will also announce the new Galaxy Tab 4 line of tablets, details about which have only been leaked yesterday for the first time.
The information comes from “local sources” talking to ZDNet Korea, and they have confirmed some of the leaked specs for the tablets. There will be three of these, in 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch guises, and each will have a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, microSD card support, and will run Android 4.4 KitKat from day one.
The new Galaxy Gear 2 is said to sport a flexible OLED display with a new design. It might seem odd that Samsung would unveil the Gear 2 so soon after its predecessor debuted, but the original smartwatch was clearly always going to be a niche device. With the second iteration, the company hopes it will finally bring wearables into the mainstream.
