Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update now rolling out
The update to Android 4.4 KitKat for Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has started rolling out today. This comes after Samsung already released the KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 models sold in South Korea earlier this month. However, we haven’t seen the update reach internationally sold units just yet, which makes this a bit out of the ordinary – that is, for a US-based carrier to roll out an Android update before it’s made it to devices sold elsewhere in unlocked form.
So kudos to Sprint for this one. The update is coming over-the-air, but it will enjoy a staggered rollout as usual. Furthermore, it looks like manually checking for the update won’t help you get it any faster – if your device isn’t meant to receive it yet, it won’t show up as available. So you may still have a bit of waiting to do if you own a Galaxy S4 bought from Sprint.
When the magic update notification pops up on your handset, then it’s go time. Aside from the new bits contained by Google’s KitKat update, the new software will also get rid of a nagging alert message that kept showing up from time to time, and the device is going to be compatible with Zact Mobile too.
