Acer announces affordable Liquid E3 and Liquid Z4
Today Acer has taken the wraps off of two new Android-powered smartphones. Like most of this company’s past offerings, they aren’t high-end, rather going for the affordable side of the market.
The Liquid Z4 (seen below) comes with a 4-inch touchscreen (resolution isn’t mentioned, but at that size and price range it’s got to be 480×800), a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, and it runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
The Liquid E3 (pictured below) is the better specced of the duo, in fact seemingly going head-to-head with the Moto G in both hardware and pricing. It has a 4.7-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, microSD card support, and it too runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. However, the E3 should see an update to Android 4.4 KitKat sometime before 2014 is over.
Neither of these handsets has support for 4G LTE networks. In Europe, the Liquid Z4 will be priced at €99 and the Liquid E3 will go for €199. Both should be out in April, with no word (yet) on availability in other territories.
