T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update rolls out today
If you own a Sony Xperia Z, and you purchased it from T-Mobile, you’ll be happy to know that a software update is headed your way. Unfortunately this won’t make your phone run Android 4.4 KitKat, which is currently the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, but it’s an update nonetheless.
We’re talking about Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the last iteration of the OS that’s called that. This isn’t a big update, but it does improve things under the hood, so to speak, so as always it’s recommended that you download and install as soon as you can.
The rollout should begin today, according to T-Mobile’s official document on the matter. Aside from the OS upgrade, the new software also fixes some issues, improves stability, brings you a redesigned UXP Air UI, a new UI for Wi-Fi calling as well, the SwiftKey keyboard preinstalled, and an extra signal bar (no, really – you’ll have 5 instead of 4).
After applying the update, you’ll be on software version 10.4.C.0.797. This will be an over-the-air rollout, so your phone will notify you once it’s ready to download and install it. If you’re impatient, however, you can always check manually by going to Settings > About phone > Software update. You may need to be on a Wi-Fi network to download the update.
