HTC Butterfly S Android 4.4 KitKat update now rolling out
Not three months after it’s started receiving the update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the HTC Butterfly S is now in the process of getting itself updated to the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system – 4.4 KitKat.
Yes, it turns out that HTC has slowly started to make this update available for those who own the Butterfly S, as reported both by famous HTC insider @LlabTooFeR as well as a few people over at the XDA Developers forum.
The update comes over-the-air, which means that your phone will notify you once it’s ready to download and install. The update weighs in at 736 MB, and as such it’s probably best if you get it via Wi-Fi. After applying it, you’ll be on software version 3.06.708.3, and Android 4.4.2.
Aside from the OS bump, the update also brings you the Cloud Print service, some security enhancements, a few new Bluetooth profiles, and removed support for Adobe’s Flash Player in the Web browser.
These rollouts usually take a while to reach all of the sold devices, so if you don’t see the update just yet don’t panic, just be patient. At some point it should reach you too, especially if you bought your Butterfly S unlocked and SIM-free. If you got it from a carrier, then you may be in for a longer wait, as that company has to test it too.
