Sony Xperia T2 Ultra on its way to T-Mobile
Sony announced the Xperia T2 Ultra in January as its first midrange phablet. During the unveiling, the company mentioned that this particular device would only be launched in certain regions, such as China, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific rim. So if you’re located elsewhere and wanted to buy one of these, you were left to go to unofficial suppliers.
That may be changing, though, for it looks like the Xperia T2 Ultra may be headed to the United States as well. Famed leakster @evleaks has it that T-Mobile will sell the phablet at some point in the future. Unfortunately though, no release date or pricing info is attached, so it’s all pretty vague right now.
The pair-up with the magenta carrier would make sense, though, since that particular company has sold many of Sony’s previous smartphones. T-Mobile has been Sony’s biggest fan in the US, a country in which the Japanese company otherwise has a pretty low footprint in terms of mobile devices.
So this does sound plausible, especially because of the source. On the other hand, who would actually crave (or use) a 6-inch phone is another matter altogether. Perhaps T-Mobile has done some research and concluded that ‘there’s a niche for that’, or something similar.
