UK: SIM-free Sony Xperia Z2 has price and release date confirmed
Sony announced the Xperia Z2 last month at MWC, and it’s already been up for pre-order in a few places in Europe. However, so far we haven’t seen any officially confirmed pricing for the smartphone for the UK, with all of the prices put up being rough estimates from the retailers. That changes today, as Clove is reporting that it’s arrived at final pricing for the Xperia Z2.
£540. That’s it. That’s how much you have to pay to order an Xperia Z2 from this particular retailer. It’s lower than the first price Clove put up (£599.99), thankfully. Furthermore, you’ll also get a free wireless speaker, a pair of free noise-cancelling headphones (together a £120 value), as well as £80 in digital goods, as follows: 6 “digital download films”, and 30 days of Sony Music Unlimited. All of this stuff is yours for free if you order an Xperia Z2 from Clove – a pretty neat offer if you ask us, and one that somewhat makes the high asking price for the handset a bit more palatable.
The black and white versions of the Xperia Z2 are going to arrive in stock during the week that commences on April 7 – so that April 11 release date we heard of from another retailer may just pan out. In that case, the Xperia Z2 would be launching on the same day as the Samsung Galaxy S5, making April 11 the biggest day of the year for smartphone releases.
