Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom specs revealed through benchmark
The Samsung Galaxy S5 did get official last month, and there’s clearly no need for the Korean company to release an ‘Active’ version of its flagship this year, since the S5 itself is water-resistant and dust-resistant. But what about a Zoom variation? Last year we had the Galaxy S4 Zoom, with a huge lens with optical zoom basically tacked onto a Galaxy S4 Mini. Will this get a sequel in 2014?
Well, yes. It definitely seems so. It’s been rumored to get an unveiling in May, and have a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. That latter detail is now pretty much confirmed by a benchmark result over at GFXBench. A Samsung device with the model number SM-C115 got put through the paces, and thanks to someone benchmarking it we now have an idea about its specs.
This is the same model that was spotted entering India for R&D purposes in February, and based on its designation it’s almost 100% sure to be the Galaxy S5 Zoom. Though like the S4 Zoom before it, this won’t keep the flagship’s specs, instead replacing most of those with innards more fitting a midranger.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom has a 4.8-inch 720p HD touchscreen, a 20.1 MP rear camera with flash, a 2 MP front camera, a 1.3 GHz hexa-core Samsung Exynos Hexa processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 or 16 GB of internal storage (the exact amount isn’t actually clear from the GFX Bench results), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, a gyroscope, and it runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat (undoubtedly with Samsung’s TouchWiz on top).
If Samsung does things like last year, the upcoming Galaxy S5 Mini may share all of these specs (except the rear camera details, of course) with the S5 Zoom.
