Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders start at AT&T and US Cellular tomorrow for $199.99, Gear 2 priced too
If you’re in the US, we now have the first pre-order info for the Samsung Galaxy S5 for you. Both AT&T and US Cellular are set to start taking pre-orders for the smartphone on March 21, which is actually tomorrow.
At AT&T, you’ll need to pay $199.99 for the handset and get a new two-year contract. Alternatively, you can use AT&T’s Next plan and get it for $25 per month with Next 18, and $32.50 per month with Next 12. It you want to buy one without any commitment whatsoever, you’ll need to shell out $649.99. AT&T says it will start shipping pre-ordered devices in “early April”, without mentioning an actual date.
At US Cellular, the pricing situation is similar, as you’d expect. $199.99 is what you have to pay for the Galaxy S5, and you’ll get a $50 free Google Play promo code if you pre-order. This carrier is more forthcoming than AT&T, as it flat out states that the Galaxy S5 will be out on April 11. That’s the official international release date too, so it looks like Samsung is gearing up for a big launch indeed.
AT&T was also kind enough to give us the official pricing for Samsung’s new wearables – the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, as well as the Gear Fit smartband. The Gear 2 will cost $299, so exactly the same as its predecessor (unfortunately for those who were hoping for more reasonable pricing). The Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit are both going to go for $199. These three should also be up for pre-order tomorrow, and you might even score a $50 discount if you buy the Galaxy S5 together with a Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo.
