Xiaomi Redmi Note will be available outside of China in May
Yesterday the Xiaomi Redmi Note (or Hongmi Note) got official, and as you’d expect from this line of devices, it’s both extremely cheap and very well specced. It’s obvious then that it will sell pretty well.
Yet for now it’s only going to be out in China. That grand launch will happen on March 26, which is next Wednesday. But what about other countries? Xiaomi has already started selling the original Hongmi in some places outside of China under the newly-concocted Redmi brand. So what about its successor?
Well, there’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is that the Redmi Note will be headed to other territories too. The bad news is that it will only do so in May. This could be understandable as Xiaomi most likely will need all the Notes it can produce – for the Chinese market, that’s expected to gobble them up like crazy.
After sales in China cool down, the company will be able to take the Redmi Note to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. Unfortunately that’s currently the whole list of places outside of mainland China where Xiaomi officially sells its wares, so if you’re anywhere else, you’ll need to use a grey-market importer or simply buy something else. Hopefully Xiaomi will decide on a proper international expansion soon.
