Meizu Blue Charm Note leaks as possible upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note challenger
It looks like Xiaomi’s Hongmi started a war in China. Competitors for it (and especially the newly unveiled Hongmi Note) are popping up everywhere. Mere hours ago we told you about Lenovo’s entrant in this field of crazy cheap devices with decent specs, the S898T, and now it seems that Meizu will join in too.
So far Meizu has been known for premium devices that aren’t exactly cheap (by Chinese standards, that is), but apparently even it was not able to ignore the disruptive Hongmi (also known as Red Rice or Redmi). Meizu is reportedly working on a handset called Blue Charm Note, and its details have been leaked to GizChina today.
The Meizu Blue Charm Note will come with a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera, and an octa-core MediaTek processor. There are no other details as of now, so we don’t know whether that processor will be clocked at 1.4 GHz or 1.7 GHz. What is obvious though is that while it has the same display size as the Hongmi Note, the Blue Charm Note sports a higher-res touchscreen. That will clearly help differentiate it from its competitors (since even the Huawei Honor 3X and the Lenovo S898T come with 720p panels), and may even make people ignore that it has a lower-res camera (8 MP compared to 13 MP in all its rivals).
However, Meizu may have done some extensive work on the camera and it could be a very high quality 8 MP unit, let’s keep that in mind. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have any more info about the new Meizu Blue Charm Note, but we’ll keep you posted.
