AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 finally starts receiving Android 4.4 KitKat update
More than two months after the internationally sold Samsung Galaxy Note 3 started receiving the update to Android 4.4 KitKat, AT&T’s version of the phablet has finally got it. The rollout has started today, so expect your Note 3 to notify you about the update’s availability any minute now (or any day now).
Obviously, the update will be staggered, so you may not get it today – or even this week. It’s how these things go. If you’re impatient, however, you can always try to manually get it by going to Settings > General > About device > Software Update. Maybe you’ll get lucky.
The update comes with a restyled, transparent status bar, a new full-screen immersive mode, color emoji support, better closed captioning, stronger security, smarter power use, a default messaging app choice, improved GPS performance, full screen album art and media controls on the lock screen while playing music, a camera shortcut on the lock screen, new Location menu in Settings, integrated support for wireless printing, and new sound controls.
So there you have it. It certainly took its sweet time, but now the update is finally in the process of rolling out. Let’s hope that when the time comes for the next update AT&T won’t lag this far behind the international release.
