Samsung Galaxy S5 now officially up for pre-order in the UK
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has officially gone up for pre-order in the UK today, exactly two weeks before its release date of April 11. This is exactly on time according to an announcement made earlier this month.
One retailer did put the Galaxy S5 up for pre-order just a few days after its announcement, and we did report on that, but said retailer took its listing down in the meantime, because the pricing wasn’t confirmed at that point.
So now it’s all good, and you can pre-order a Samsung Galaxy S5 pretty much from every place you can think of. EE is offering the device in black, white, and blue (as are all operators aside from Vodafone, because Big Red has an exclusive on the gold variant). Interestingly, you can’t get it for free upfront, the least you have to pay is £9.99 for the handset, then £42.99 for a monthly plan with unlimited minutes and texts and 10 GB of data.
At O2, with O2 Refresh, you can get the phone for free with a £48 per month plan that has unlimited minutes and texts, and 5 GB of data.
Vodafone has all the colors available, and the cheapest plan that nets you the Galaxy S5 for free costs £47 per month, bringing you unlimited minutes and texts, and 2 GB of data.
Three doesn’t give you the S5 for free in any situation, you’ll have to pay £69 to get it. The cheapest plan costs £38 per month and offers 600 minutes, unlimited texts, and 2 GB of data. Three’s cheapest plan that brings you unlimited minutes costs £41 per month and also has unlimited texts and 2 GB of data.
Carphone Warehouse will sell you a Galaxy S5 SIM-free for £569.95, or free on a £42 per month plan from Vodafone (which has unlimited minutes and texts, and 3 GB of data).
At Phones 4u, it’s an EE contract that nets you the Galaxy S5 for free, costing £42.99 and coming with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 4 GB of data.
And finally, if you want to get a Galaxy S5 SIM-free and unlocked, but cheaper than at the high street retailers, you can always head to Clove, well known in the online world for selling mobile devices. The price there is £534, and, as everywhere else, stock is expected to arrive on April 11.
