HTC Butterfly Android 4.4 KitKat update confirmed by HTC, “coming soon”
Last month a leak told us to expect Android 4.4 KitKat updates for both the original HTC Butterfly from 2012 as well as the Butterfly S from last year, alongside a couple of Desire-branded smartphones. In the meantime, the Butterfly S has already started getting its taste of KitKat, so what about the Butterfly?
Well, there’s no update to get just yet, but the (very) good news for owners of this handset is that HTC has officially confirmed that it’s working on it. Yes, there will be an update to Android 4.4 KitKat, and it will be out soon, according to HTC’s own Facebook page.
This was revealed in an answer by HTC to a concerned owner of the Butterfly, inquiring about whether to expect a KitKat update or not. The Taiwanese company said nothing about when exactly the rollout would start, but the aforementioned leak that first told us this would be happening spoke about a time frame of March-April. As this month is over, you should probably expect KitKat to reach the original Butterfly sometime in April.
Obviously things could have changed, but the estimate for the Butterfly S rollout from February’s leak was spot-on, so we aren’t doubting it in this case either. At least until April passes.
